In untitled (#3), a well-worn instrument and an image of the jazz innovator Miles Davis speaks to black male heroism and the miscegenation of cultures –
an aspect of African identity that is central to African American creative expression as in jazz, hip-hop, colloquial language and other aspects of popular culture.
