sounding bronzeville
2016

Sounding Bronzeville is a commission from the Chicago Parks Department and the Field Museum to develop one of five community gathering spaces along the Lake Michigan lakefront in the newly restored Burnham Wildlife Corridor. We built "green" sculptures made of willow we collected to bring together the sounds of nature and the sounds of Bronzeville in a space community members could enjoy. The sculptures will be up and space will be active through 2018.

Project team: designers, Fo Wilson, Norman Teague, Chris Buchakjian; architects Mike Newman and Monica Chadha, landscape architects Nilay Mistry and Nathen Wright;, furniture maker and willow consultant Dave Chapman, Paula Robinson and Larissa Johnson of the Bronzeville Community Development Partnership, our community partners.
