Infinite Games 50/50

Open House Contemporary, 2017

This work is part of a show curated by John Preus, who invited 50 artists to make work from discarded Chicago Public School (CPS) furniture from closed public schools. The wallpapered image by Mary Collins (1912-1985), was taken for the Farm Security Administration and is in the Office of War Information's Photograph Collection. The children are engaged in a reading lesson. The desk was discarded from the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), and the book is open to the poem "Kids Who Die" (1938), by celebrated poet Langston Hughes (1902-1967).
